He also greatly enjoys documentaries and his interest in creating documentaries off of his works, especially historic nonfiction was inspired by Ken Burns.
Charlie’s primary audience with historical nonfiction consists of those of all ages interested in sports, history, sports history, and culture, while adults who enjoy thrillers, fiction, and adventure would enjoy his fantasy works.
Historical Nonfiction
Charlie has always been fascinated with historical nonfiction especially when it comes to moments from the 20th Century onward. Charlie’s first series is a depiction of the history of sports in the 50 United States beginning with Missouri, his home state.
Missouri. America’s Heartland. A land that conjures up images, both good and bad. The same goes for the world of sports in the state. However, a bigger part is the fact that many practices have been initiated in sports, either at the collegiate, Olympic, or professional level that have permanently impacted professional sports worldwide to this day.
Also, many sports firsts came here.
For instance, did you know that the forward pass in football became legal in St. Louis? In Kansas City, the Negro National League was formed in baseball. Also, the first female owner in pro baseball history was Helene Britton with the Cardinals in the early 20th Century, as well as the farm system starting here, just to name a few.
This story is dedicated to promoting the history of professional sports in Missouri, bringing back to light many subjects and occurrences in one of the greatest forms of entertainment.
